The federalists believed that government will serve the best good governance and perform their duties/responsibility if the citizens kept a distance from the government.

While on the other side, anti-federalists believed that active participation of the citizens is required for better working and governance. Active participation of different type of citizens is required for accountability.

The federalist believed that the president should hold enough power to govern the country as strong government is the one who would encourage the states to work together.
