    To counter this, the parliament created the test acts in 1693 which prevented every catholic followers from holding any type of position in high office.

    Eventually, King James II fail to win the power struggle with the parliament and forced to resign as the lord high admiral.

    James II, King of England, he was able to accomplish the gain absolute rule since he pursued Catholicism as the state religion and dismissed Parliament. He was ousted in the Glorious Revolution of 1688. He was the last Roman Catholic ruler to rule over the Kingdoms of England, Scotland, and Ireland.
