In Brown vs. board case, the supreme court ruled a landmark verdict which stated that segregation on the basis of ethnicity is unconstitutional.

Explanation:

Supreme court overturned the separate but equal doctrine saying that it had an inherent and subtle element of inequality and hence ruled out that it violated the constitution which states equal rights to all without any bias based on races or ethnicity.

This final verdict became the catalyst which arose the civil rights moment. This verdict abolished the Jim Crow laws which claimed segregation to be legal and it also paved way for the African Americans to use separate public utilities. African Americans faced the heat of racial discrimination, but the constitution proclaims equal rights to all citizens of US.
