What is it called when scientist in the same or similar field of study judge the quality of a fellow scientist's scientific claim?

    Peer review. This is the basis of much of the scientific method: repeatability. The concept of peer review allows for other researchers to test to make sure a paper's claims are valid and that the methods used were sound and verifiable.
