When it comes to crime, children are different from adults - more vulnerable to external pressures, more impulsive, and therefore less guilty of their crimes. In the Miller v. Alabama case of 2012, the judges ruled that life sentences are unconstitutional without the possibility of parole for juveniles. Importantly, the court said that their sentence was clearly relevant to the context and personal circumstances of the youth.
