Why might African leaders have been willing to participate in the exchange of

slaves for goods?

A. They were interested in starting their own colonies in the

Americas.

B. The slaves were often prisoners from the interior of Africa, not

their own people.

C. They could sell the goods to pay off loans owed to the Europeans.

D. It allowed them to reduce their own populations and prevent

starvation.

    I believe the answer is b because there were often wars between African clans and the best way to get rid of the prisoners and get things they needed at the same time was to trade them.
