The strange thing about Engels' writings is that, although they spoke of the uprising of the common worker, his writings were used by some of the most governments of the last century.

    The correct answer is oppressive. The idea behind governments like the Soviet Union and Maoist China was that they do it for the good of the people and the working class. They considered that oppression was necessary because those oppressed were considered to be against the well being of the people and of the working class.
