    Yes it could be a sign if the characteristics of its beak has changed or evolved over a period of time

    Yes it would be in regards to it's purpose. If you use a woodpeckers beak as an example, it would be because of the shape. in order for the woodpecker to "peck wood" it would need a sharp beak.
