    Answer: The lack of immigration to the North provided African Americans with jobs in factories. They also served as chefs, nurses, and cleaners in the military.

    Explanation:

    Known as the great migration, around six million African Americans moved to the North during World War I. With no immigration because of the ensuing war and poor whites being drafted, the factories were open for African Americans and provided better wages then working on farms in the South. Other then that, they'd work on the warfront to take care of white soldiers as chefs, cleaners, and nurses.
