The Gallipoli Peninsula is situated between Dardanelles and the Gulf of Saros in the northwestern coast of Turkey. It was the famous site of the World War I Allied naval campaign against the Ottoman Empire to seize control of the Dardanelles Strait and gain access to Russia.
