What is so unique about the Declaration of Independence in the context of all human history?

    The Declaration of Independence was important because America at the time had not been equipped with the proper equipment whereas England was a global superpower (the biggest since the Roman Empire) The Declaration had been a new idea too, the fighting wasn't originally to gain independence. The Declaration said the the Americans were prepared to fight for their rights and possibly die for them.
