    Explanation:

    In the 18th century France had lost much of its international hegemony. There was class struggle and - due to the exuberant lifestyle of the monarchy - a very precarious economic situation. The feudal system was obviously the cause of the suffering of most of the population and as the French king was linked to the feudal system, the monarchy had to be destroyed.
