Why did Japan expand its focus and try to take over a lot of the territory in south east Asia?

    Answer: Japan was afraid of the US coming in even further

    Explanation: The US at that time had the Philippines (which is very close to Japan). This was the reason they were trying to take over a lot of territory in southeast Asia
