    The Russian Revolution in February 1917 was the first of the two revolutions that took place in Russia in the same year. Its main events were the protests against the monarchy that emerged due to the long-standing disatisfaction against the regime and also because of the food rationings that had been imposed as a consequence of the country's participation in WWI.

    Mass demonstrations were celebrated and many finished with violent armed confrontations between demonstrators and the police and the gendarmes, as these two forces were still loyal to the royal family. On the other hand, most forces from the Russian army, sided with the revolutionaries.
