What did Napoleon do to improve the lives of millions of ordinary French men and women

    When Napoleon came to power he made many changes that improved the lives of French people. He restored peace and order and suppressed the riots in France. He promoted the growth of commerce and launched various infrastructure projects and stabilized the economy. He restored and beautified Paris. He established public education from colleges to high school and elementary school. Catholicism was reinstated and conflict between France and the Church ended through the signing of an agreement with Pope Pius VII. He established the Legion of Honor that would be awarded to French citizens who for meritorious service and proclamation of the Napoleonic Code that contain many principles of democracy.
