This is because many people do not have access to a lot of literature before this date. While an important task of English class is to learn, it is also important to foster an enjoyment and appreciation of literature in the minds of the students. Therefore, during these years, many people get closer to literature, learn about their likes and dislikes and develop an appreciation for the written word.
