Hitler and his Nazi Party used the defeat of Germany during World War II to increase nationalism among the German Population.

This is because Germany was not only defeated, but also obliged to pay enormous amount of money in the form of reparations to the victor countries. Besides, Germany also lost territory in Eastern Europe.

In this context, Germany became a very poor country in the 1920s, suffering a very serious economic crisis. Many people were poor and agry, and were susceptible to Hitler's speeches about national humilliation and the need for Germany to become strong and take revenge.

Hitler also scapegoated the Jewish miniority in the country, accusing them of causing the economic crisis. Because in crisis people naturally tend to look for the guilty ones, many Germans were quick to accept Hitler's antisemitic views.
