The royal officials in the Mali Empire took on extra responsibility and the king divided the whole empire into small provinces and put generals in charge of provinces to manage local affairs and report it to the king.

    Explanation:

The Mali Empire was an empire that emerged in West Africa in the period between c. 1235 to 1670. Sundiata Keita is regarded as the founder of the Mali empire. The government in the Mali empire was much bigger and this empire had more land, people and trade.

As the empire was very large the king divided the whole empire into various provinces and gave the charge of the province to some generals in charge who managed the local affairs and report the activities to the king.
