    Researchers attribute the attempts of the authorities to restrict freedom of speech and silence radical critics of military and economic policy with the era of World War I and the period of the so-called 'red threat.' At the same time, libertarian radicalism rejected both the capitalist individualism of non-interference and the social aspirations characteristic of progressive thought. The concept was guided by the ideas of individualistic anarchism, freedom of thought and free love. Thus, in its connection with the social, religious and sexual spheres, obviously, sentiments were expressed against the authority of the church and the state. This theory is largely related to the activities of the organization Free Speech League, which appeared in 1902. The League considered freedom of speech as a fundamental individual right. The organization at a certain stage of development interpreted freedom of speech exclusively as a political phenomenon and ignored its other aspects
