What was Calverts attitude toward religious freedom

    Calvert wanted to enjoy religious freedom and practice his own religion (Catholic) peacefully in Maryland, a colony that he established. Because he wanted to have the protection of Catholic religion he tried to pass the Act of Toleration. It became a start of religious freedom in the US.
