How was the U. S experience establishing trade with China different from U. S attempts to open trade with Japan

    The US first established trade with China in 1783 called Old China Trade. Japan had such strict government rules which included high tariffs and certain gov. quotas. It wasn't until the 1950's that trade started to be better for everyone.
