How did the Voting Rights Act expand the ability of Americans to vote?

    It allowed for a more diverse group of people to be able to vote. In the beginning it was just white males that were allowed to vote and once the act came out women and African Americans could vote as well. This also made for a larger group of voters which meant that the political parties had more people they could convince to vote in their favor.
