Bacon's Rebellion was the first uprising by the colonists in America. It happened in Virginia, and the reason was that the people were not satisfied by the manner in which the person set to govern them, Berkeley, was doing it. Bacon was the leader of this uprising, and lot of people got engaged in it, attacking Berkeley and his people, as well as the Native Americans. Jamestown was torched and destroyed. The uprising was countered by several ships from London that were nearby, and later the British Empire sent troops to put things under control. The putting of things under control lasted for quite some time, as there were numerous uprising in meantime. What was very interesting was that the white settlers and the black slaves actually worked together as a unit, which was unheard of until then. Because of fear that the white and black people will start to unite, they imposed stricter division between the classes and races, splitting up the people as much as possible.
