Many Canadians were concerned that U. S. involvement in Canadian industry would serve to rob Canada of its own economic independence, place Canada in a position where it relied largely upon U. S. industries for financial support and power, and convert Canada toward a decidedly American manner of economic thinking and, in turn, sabotage the nation's more socialistic financial policies.
