Why were Anabaptists persecuted during the counter reformation

    Because they believed the Catholic tradition of infant baptism had no merit. Therefore, those that came to believe were "re-baptized" (which is what anabaptists means).

    The Catholic church obviously took offense at this and persecuted them.
