When did Roman ideas about law and government spread over a large area?

    It spread during building their empire around the mediteranian but Roman law wasn't codfied till the eastern roman emperor (vyzantine) Justinian the Great codfied the roman law in 6th c. afterwards roman law started to spread in Latin Europe, canon law of Catholic Church was in full based on roman law
