    It's FALSE

    Explanation:

Laurent Clerc was the founder of the first Deaf School in America, alongside Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet, as the Director, but Ambroise Sicard didn't come to America as Clerc. However, Sicard was a preeminent deaf instructor in France, and one of the Clerc's influences. The school founded by Clerc was a pioneer to develop and create a culture of respect for deaf people, and most importantly, to engage them in society, as part of it.
