Spanish settlers came to America in search Gold to improve their economic stability, to spread Catholic faith in America, and to conquer America and extend their borders.

British colonists came as families of apprentice servants and they were huge in number so, the British colonies had an enormous manpower. They settled in America in search of religious liberty as they were the Protestants, they needed religious security.

Spanish colonies were small, so they were not given opportunities to work. They were in search of gold whereas English cultivated crops and sold tobacco.
