The treaty of Ghent mainly organized the exchanges of territories between the United States and the British Empire. It was described that the treaty ended the war of 1812 as a "stalemate." However, because the news about was slow to arrive during the course of the war, the battles were still ongoing most notably the famous Battle of New Orleans.
