Why did the Mexican army attack the Alamo

Mexican soldiers occupied The Alamo. Mexico had gained independence from Spain by the early 1820s. Settlers from other states began flocking toward Texas. In December of the mid-1830s, a fight for independence from Mexico developed between Texans and Mexicans.
