During the mid and to the late 19th century most of the Chinese immigrants to arrived in Hawaii, when 46,000 people immigrated to the islands.
Others came in as laborers for sugar plantations in Hawaii, there aim was centered more on education for their children. when their contracts elapsed, some of the Chinese workers concluded to stay back in Hawaii and in areas such as Chinatown, they decided to start a business.
By 1950 most Chinese American men in Hawaii had good jobs and were educated.
