It's more like part of Pop Culture. People throughout the years starting using that Friday as a day for bad Luck. If you step on a crack, it's supposedly bad luck. It's similar to St. Patrick's day where if you find a four-leaf clover, that day, you're destined for Good luck. Not really close to being the same, but you get what I mean.
