As the American colonists moved toward rebellion, a number of principles were at the center of their actions: consent of the governed, limited government, rule of law, democracy, or representative government. Which principle of American government had the greatest influence on the conflict between the colonists and the British government?

    Consent of the Governed; Because they were being taxed. (aka Taxation with Representation). There was also no choice in Religion. It was mandatory Monotheism because King George was a Monarch who had all the say and the people had no power
