The industrial revolution advanced society and the economy in ways that were never imagined. Although it affected society in a positive way it also affected society in a negative way. The negative way being that it caused lots of environmental problems ranging from pollution to the depletion of natural resources. This all happened due to the increased amount of coal in factories.

Positive changes for society

Workers had more money to spend on goods. Factories produced more items at lower prices. People started to organize for their rights as workers. New inventions, such as the lightbulb, made life easier.

Due to poor sanitation and poor hygiene practices, diseases became to spread and people started to get sick.
