The Tokugawa shogunate was the last feudal military government in Japan.
Explanation:
It was constituted after Ieyasu took the Osaka Castle and proclaimed himself as Tenka Dōno, which means lord of the country. This shogunate worked as a dictatorship, in which the emperor possesses the entire power of the country. This one was seen as a spiritual and religious entity that connected the people with the gods. During the shogunate, the foreigners and people of other religions were killed and prohibited to enter, leading to the isolation of the country from other cultures. On the 9th of November 1867, the shogunate was abolished and the Meiji Restauration took place, transforming the country radically.
