Buddha giving up his life to encourage a tigress and her offspring. Buddha showed compassion for a starving tigress, who may somehow or another have needed to eat her infant offspring. He yielded himself. The story is frequently reviewed by Tibetans in a state of banishment in Dharamsala in northern India as they regret an apparently interminable cycle of self-immolations in their country. In the previous year no less than 26 Tibetans, for the most part youthful Buddhist priests, have set fire to themselves.
