Explain why King Philip II viewed Protestants as heretics and why that view may have met with conflict?

    He was a devout Catholic and supported the Pope and the counter-reformation. The protestants were deemed as heretics and were prosecuted by the Spanish Inquisition. This coincided with the fact that the protestants were at large Dutch and were rebellious so he fought against them.
