The purpose of D-Day was 3. to reclaim Western Europe first before attempting to move Allied troops into Germany. This was the largest seaborne operation invasion in history and began the liberation of German-occupied northwestern Europe from Nazi control, and contributed to the Allied victory on the Western Front. The location that D-Day took place in was in Normandy, France.
