What is preclusive imperialism and it's significance?

    Preclusive imperialism is basically a reason why the US needed to start 'expanding'. William Langer believed that they needed to start engaging when it came to imperialism and develop the US empire so others couldnt.

    As for its significance, it protected Cuba and they bought the Philippines for $20 million until it became independent.
