In simple words, This quotation reflects a denunciation of predestination. This says very plainly that people are no fate-prisoners. They are not the beneficiaries of something that has been determined by who determines certain things or anything.

The Monkey's Paw "is a paranormal short tale by writer W. W. Jacobs, originally released in Britain in the novel The Ladies of the Barge during 1902. In the tale, the holder of The Monkey's Paw gets three blessings, but the desires arrive at a massive price for messing at destiny.
