    An appellate court is one that works with appeals. An appeal is when a person feels that they the ruling of the court was wrong or unjust. In the United States, the Supreme Court is the highest level appellate court. Ultimately, the goal of the Supreme Court is to determine whether or not the ruling of the previous court violated the citizens constitutional rights. This concept of the Supreme Court ruling on the constitutionality of a case is known as judicial review.
