Northerners respond to the Fugitive Slave Act by enacting legislation opposing it.

    Answer: Option B

    Explanation:

In 1793 and then in 1850, the Fugitive Slave Acts were passed in U. S. This federal law provide for capturing and returning of the slaves to the owners in U. S. who once ran away. This act also provided for the penalty which could be imposed on any person who added the slaves in running away.

The act of 1850 provided even more stringent provisions and punishments for any person who interferes in the capturing of the slaves. There was great opposition to this act and many northern States even passed resolutions and bills for repealing the act until it was repealed by the congress in 1864.
