The Romans were able to maintain their control over their conquered territories because they assigned a Roman Governor to each of the provinces that belonged to the Roman Empire. People who were under the governance of the Roman Empire were obliged to follow the same customs, traditions and practices. They pampered and pacified the people through entertainments, luxurious and comfortable living and provided security for their people. When anyone rebelled, because of the brutish nature of the Romans, they were ruthless to those who questioned their ways.
