    The correct answer is c. managed to consolidate control over some thirty nearby tribes.

    He was actually the father of Pocahontas and legend says she stopped him from executing John Smith. When he came to power, he ruled over 4 or 5 tribes, but through diplomacy or by force he managed to win the rule of 30 tribes during his lifetime which he formed into the Powhatan confederacy.
