    Voluntary

    Explanation:

Serving in the military and voting are voluntary responsibilities in the United States. This means that no person can be forced to perform these duties if they do not want to do so. However, if the person chooses to do so, then they have the responsibility of doing it to the best of their ability. Citizens who take up these responsibilities contribute to making the country better and safer for all Americans.

Voting and serving in military are voluntary services. Unlike other countries American military do not make it compulsory for the citizens to join the army. It is a voluntary service American citizens can voluntary choose to serve for the nation.

It is important to give the right to the citizens to decide whether they want to serve for the nation or not. Not everyone is fit for fighting in wars. American rights to the citizens says the same.
