Why was the issue of slavery left unresolved in the constitution? How does slavery clash with the ideals of the revolution?

    This is a highly contested issue, but most historians agree that the issue of slavery was not addressed in the Constitution because of the Founding Fathers knew that removing it immediately would "kill" the nation's economy, which was already fragile. It went against the ideals of the revolution since men were being held in servitude by men who claimed that all men were "created equal".
