The fact that the Mauryan Emperor Ashoka was the mightiest ruler of his time and was still a preacher of non-violence was truly significant about him.

    Explanation:

Emperor Ashoka's life took an unprecedented turn after the war of Kalinga which turned him into a preacher of non-violence. After the loss of life that occurred in the said war, Ashoka decided to never wage a war ever again and chose to follow the path of Buddhism.

His patronage paved way to the development of Buddhism in the other kingdoms too during his reign and around 250 BCE.
