How was American involvement in Vietnam an extension of the Truman doctrine?

    The Truman Doctrine was the act of assisting countries fighting for capitalism. Southern Vietnam was fighting Northern Vietnam for capitalism. North Vietnam was fighting for communism, opposite of capitalism. The Americans assisting Southern Vietnam was an extension of the Truman Doctrine because it was to assist capitalist countries.
