Englishmen had begun to establish colonies in earnest, there were plenty of ... As a result, for the most part, the English colonies in North America were business ventures. here is another one if thats not right. The Middle Colonies were more diverse than colonies in New England and the South ... colonies were settled rather haphazardly over the course of the 17th century ... so there is greater emphasis on religious toleration and cultural diversity ... the Dutch had little reason to build permanent communities in the New World ...
