    They are elected every six years, with the possibility of being elected for up to two consecutive terms. The Chambers of Senators is comprised of 128 senators. Their branch is Congress of the Union. Legislative power is vested upon the Congress of the Union, a bicameral legislature comprising the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies. They are directly elected in multiseat constituencies by simple majority vote and 32 directly elected in a single, nationwide constituency by proportional representation vote.
